It is better to have the right people on the board, rather than makeup numbers. Like the Lutheran model, new church members will be happy to know that they can express their opinions. If you are given the chance to chair a church committee, you should make sure that the meetings begin with prayers. I wouldnt recommend couples both being on a board. The model that is best for your church often depends on factors like the size of the congregation, the style of leadership preferred by the pastor and other leaders, and the number and type of programs offered by your church. Someone of quality who is prepared to rejoin after having a season not being on the board is no bad thing, as they will bring a freshness of energy and perspective, as well as experience. Stay on purpose, stay connected to your neighborhood, leverage your gift of intimacy, and rightsize your leadership structure to unleash disciples into ministry.
